Reflection:
I’ve led small groups in my church youth group before, but those camps were easier because everyone already knew me. This event was completely different. I was working with people I had never met, which pushed me out of my comfort zone and forced me to take the lead as the icebreaker for the group. I had to keep the programme on schedule, keep track of every member, and make sure no one was missing, unwell and take note of peopele who left early. I also found myself answering their questions about polytechnic life, since many were curious about what to expect in their next stage. Overall, it was a fun and meaningful experience that strengthened my facilitation and leadership skills, along with my communication and interpersonal abilities.

-Front-of-house operations (Managing entry, tickets and guest movement)
- Attention to detail (Ensuring the right tickets, and guest movement)
Reflection:
This was my first time working front of house, and at the start, I felt nervous and out of place. I wasn’t confident yet, especially when visitors approached me with questions. However, as the shift went on, I began asking my teammates about the locations of attractions, toilet facilities, and on-site ticket availability. This helped me quickly familiarise myself with the venue. Over time, I became more comfortable and even found myself anticipating visitors’ questions, offering information before they needed to ask. The experience boosted my confidence and helped me grow more proactive in my role.

Reflection:
Volunteering at this event gave me the chance to experience the show up close and step into a front-of-house role for the first time. It offered a form of learning that went beyond the classroom, allowing me to understand audience flow and engagement in a real setting. I also found myself naturally applying skills from my part-time F&B work, especially in communicating with “customers" or in this case, the audience. This experience helped me see how my past roles continue to shape the way I interact with people and support an event effectively. It also allowed me to understand more of the operations in theatre and appreciate the work done behind the scenes.

Short task summary:
Assisted with event set-up, teardown, and sound equipment operations for the Singapore Night Festival 2025
Skills Learnt and used:
Strengthened my technical skills, collaboration, and ability to work under time-sensitive conditions
Event & Technical Skills:
- Basic sound operations (Handling audio equipment safely)
- Technical coordination (Working with equipment safely and correctly)
- Attention to detail (ensuring equipment and setup were correctly placed)
Reflection:
After this event what stood out to me the most, was how much the event meant to the audience. The audience consisted of young children and their parents, even though the storytelling and show focused to the young audience, the adults also enjoyed the experience. Both the children and the adults had smiles on their faces, they were immersed in storytelling and world they were trying to build, this showed me the importance of the event and being part of it.
